‘Bună Ziua’ Park brings a touch of nature, wildlife, and biodiversity to the heart of a residential area. The elongated configuration of the park represented a challenge – how to create a connected and fluid park, without falling into the trap of a passage space, a corridor. Thus, a number of breakpoints were introduced in the form of bridges, state places, play, look around, and other activities.
The bridges become an extension of the park and a closeness to the water. The paths and running tracks follow the topography of the terrain and create a diverse experience: from smooth slopes, winding lanes, and loops to wild and steep paths. Their materiality foretells the visitor the route ahead.
“The jury appreciated the predominantly natural character and the non-invasive approach in which the plant elements are coherently structured and discreetly integrate rainwater management, recreation areas and socializing areas. The project proposes simple and effective elements that are the basis of the local biodiversity conservation strategy, thus making the park an important node in the city’s network of ecological corridors. The existing biodiversity is maintained and supported from a floristic and faunal point of view, becoming an educational support. The way of integrating the functions required by the theme is subtle and does not damage the natural or vegetal ambience of the park: multifunctional meadows, wooden furniture elements, stone.”
